MINUTES
PLANNING COMMISSION
FEBRUARY 12, 2009
area where the monument sign will be located. Given easement and
visibility issues, Sheehan asked that the monument sign be allowed to be
set back 2 feet from the property line rather than 5 feet. Sheehan also
described the location of a directional sign along the property and adjacent
to the monument sign.
Knudsen asked about the utility pole and box near the monument sign.
Sheehan reported that the pole and box are temporary construction
services and would be removed once construction is finished.
The City Planner reported that the Code allows for some variation on the
size of directional signs. He also pointed out that under the PUD the two
six foot directional signs are not an issue. The primary issue is the setback
for the monument sign.
Knudsen felt that given the nature of the street, moving the monument
sign back a couple of feet would compromise visibility. Knudsen stated
that he would support the Comprehensive Sign Plan Amendment.
Pechmann reported that he looked at the signage, and noted that visibility
coming from the west is difficult. Therefore, he, too, supported the
amendment.
The Planner noted that he would recommend that should the City have to
do any work within its easements, the property owner would be
responsible for any disturbance or damage to the signage.
There was no one present from the general public wishing to comment on
this matter.
Duray recommended approval of the Amendment to the Comprehensive
Sign Plan for the St. Jude Medical Corporate Campus located on County
Road B-2 East subject to compliance with the recommendations of the
City Planner outlined in his report dated February 6, 2009 and subject to
the property owner being responsible for any disturbance or damage to the
signage as the result of the City's working within its easement areas.
Motion seconded by Pechmann.
Motion carried 6 - 0.
PRELIMINARY Mr. John Johnson, representing Pinot Properties, appeared before the
PLAT - Commission requesting Preliminary Plat approval subdividing 565 Little
HUOT Canada Road into five single-family lots. Johnson presented a revised
ADDITION plat layout which addresses many of the recommendations of the City
Planner and the City Engineer, noting that the biggest issue is the
reconfiguration of the lot lines between Lots 2 and 3 and Lots 4 and 5.
-4-
