RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE CITY OF VADNAIS HEIGHTS PURSUIT OF <br />ACTIVE TRANSPORTATION INFRASTRUCTURE FUNDING FOR THE TWIN LAKE <br />BOULEVARD TRAIL <br /> <br /> <br />WHEARAS, the Minnesota Department of Transportation’s Active Transportation Infrastructure <br />Program will provide $3.5 million in state funding for the construction of pedestrian and bicycle <br />infrastructure projects that will improve transportation options, address safety and equity <br />concerns, reduce vehicle miles traveled, and engage the community in project development; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Little Canada is aware of the City of Vadnais Heights’ application to the <br />Active Transportation Infrastructure Program for the construction of the Twin Lake Boulevard <br />Trail; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the proposed project is consistent with and will connect to the City of Little <br />Canada’s fully-funded portion of the Twin Lake Boulevard Trail; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the proposed project will enter construction during the 2023 calendar year and will <br />have a useful life of over 10 years; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, construction of the Twin Lake Boulevard Trail through Little Canada and Vadnais <br />Heights will improve connectivity, prioritize preserving mature trees, and benefit a manufactured <br />home park, a multifamily housing building, and a single-family residential neighborhood; and <br /> <br />WHEAREAS, the trail will improve safety and accessibility for bicyclists and pedestrians as <br />there is no current bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure in this corridor; furthermore, this project <br />will be ADA compliant and separate non-motorized users from vehicle traffic. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF LITTLE CANADA, <br />RAMSEY COUNTY, MINNESOTA: <br /> <br />1. The City Council of Little Canada approves the City of Vadnais Heights’s pursuit of <br />Active Transportation funds for the Twin Lake Boulevard Trail. <br /> <br />2. The City of Little Canada is committed to working with the City of Vadnais Heights in <br />the development and construction of the proposed project in a timeframe that supports <br />grant agreement requirements. <br /> <br />Adopted by the Council this 14th day of December, 2022. <br /> <br /> <br />____________________________________ <br /> John T.
