MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
FEBRUARY 25, 2009
The maximum number of tenants for this building was discussed, with
Wagner estimating a maximum of seven tenants, i.e. seven wall signs.
Again, Wagner asked for the flexibility on lit ornon-lit signage as well as
being allowed to utilize signs mounted on raceways. He noted that for
Final Cut an illuminated sign would have cost an additional $5,000.
Montour indicated that signs mounted on raceways would be acceptable to
him in this area. He concern was with consistency, and indicated that he
would rather see all illuminated or all non-illuminated signage.
Wagner again noted that Final Cuts already has anon-lit sign in place. He
pointed out that Midwest Gymnastics wants a lit sign and pointed out their
location at the southeast corner of the building. Midwest wants the
visibility that lit signage will provide as well as the additional lighting in
the parking lot.
McGraw stated that he was agreeable to the signage being mounted on a
raceway. However, he would like consistency relative to lit or non-lit
signage. Wagner suggested that on the east sign of the building Midwest
be allowed to have a lit sign. The Final Cuts sign isnon-illuminated and
there would be another tenant adjacent to Final Cuts. Wagner suggested
that this additional tenant be required to have anon-lit sign.
'Fhe Council discussed the issue of consistency with illuminated and non-
illuminated signs in detail. The consensus was that on the east elevation
of the building, Midwest Gymnastics would be allowed an illuminated
sign. Final Cuts and any additional tenants on the east elevation would be
required to have non-illuminated signage. For the north elevation of the
building there is an estimated maximum of four tenants. These tenants
would be required to have illuminated signage. The Council also was
agreeable to tenant signage mounted on raceways.
Wagner reported that in the spring he would be adding landscaping
treatment to the base area of the pylon signage. He noted that the location
of a rain water garden on the property is still undetermined and one of the
reasons that this landscaping was not already in place.
There was no one else from the general public present wishing to
comment on this matter.
Upon motion by McGraw, seconded by Keis, the public hearing was
closed.
Mr. McGraw introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
