The City, located in the center of Ramsey County, is a second-ring suburb of Minneapolis-Saint <br />Paul. The neighboring cities to Little Canada include Maplewood, Roseville, Shoreview, Vadnais <br />Heights, White Bear Lake and Saint Paul. Little Canada consists of an area that encompasses <br />4.48 square miles, of which approximately 1.59 square miles is water. <br />Little Canada, between 2016-2020, was comprised of approximately 65.1% white residents with <br />approximately 31.6% being of color from primarily Black or African American at 12.5% and Asian <br />or Pacific Islander at 13.5%. The City currently provides the City Newsletter in Spanish in <br />response to the increase in bilingual households, and is looking at other language options. <br />The City is comprised of 16 full time and 6 part time staff and various seasonal employees. The <br />City consists of the following departments: Administration, Elections, Finance, Fire (25 paid on <br />call firefighters), Parks & Recreation, Planning and Community Development, Public Safety, <br />Public Works and Utility Billing. The City contracts out for some services including police services <br />through Ramsey County, fire services through the Little Canada Fire Department, engineering <br />services through Bolton & Menk, etc. The City is in a joint Power Agreement for internet services <br />through Metro-INET which currently provides IT services to 43 other north metro local <br />government entities and decisions on technology improvements are initiated and led by staff. <br />The last Compensation Study for the City was conducted early in 2022. <br />5 of 63
