Ramsey County │ IMT Job Aids 9 <br />3.Public Information Officer (PIO) <br />RC PRIMARY: Director of Communication OR as Designated by EOC Director <br />RC ALTERNATE: Designated by Primary <br />MUNI PRIMARY: Assigned <br />MUNI ALTERNATE: Assigned <br />SUPERVISOR: County/Municipal Incident Manager <br />3.1 Role <br />Serve as the collection, evaluation, alignment, and dissemination point for all media and related <br />information releases within the affected area. <br />3.2 Responsibilities <br />•Review and coordinate all public information releases. <br />•Ensure that information released is consistent, accurate, and timely. <br />•Ensure appropriate information support is provided to all required agencies upon request. <br />•Ensure that the public within the affected area receives complete, accurate, timely, and <br />consistent information about lifesaving procedures, health preservation instructions, emergency <br />status, relief programs and services, and other relevant information. <br />•Maintain a relationship with media representatives and hold periodic press conferences. <br />•Establish a Joint Information System (JIS) and activate a Joint Information Center (JIC), when <br />necessary.
