Ramsey County | Base Plan 21 <br />Examples of protection activities in Ramsey County include: <br />•Develop the THIRA and Gap Analysis <br />•Develop and maintain inclusive emergency plans and procedures that serve the whole <br />community, especially diverse populations and individuals with DAFN <br />•Identify organizational assets, challenges, and opportunities for integrating diversity, equity and <br />inclusion into response and recovery policy, procedures and protocols <br />•Perform (as part of team) site vulnerability assessments for government facilities <br />•Monitor threat environment and provide notification of significant potential events to various <br />agencies <br />•Monitor cyber security environment and provide notification of significant potential events to <br />various agencies <br />•Monitor physical security environment and provide notification of significant potential events to <br />various agencies <br />•Operate the Workplace Threat Assessment Team for prevention of workplace violence and <br />threats to staff <br />•Institute cybersecurity processes <br />•Perform law enforcement patrols and crime prevention activities on land and water <br />•Install and monitor video surveillance, facility alarms and physical security systems, coordinate <br />and manage security guards <br />•Monitor threat environment <br />•Institute disease prevention strategies <br />•Inspect facilities and services to prevent outbreaks <br />•Administer Certain Grant Programs <br />2.4.3 MITIGATION <br />Mitigation is an effort to reduce or eliminate the long-term risks to life, property, and wellbeing of <br />community members. Mitigation focuses on the premise that individuals, the private sector, <br />communities, critical infrastructure, and the nation are made more resilient when the consequences and <br />impacts, the duration, and the financial and human costs to respond to and recover from adverse <br />incidents are all reduced. <br />Examples of mitigation activities in Ramsey County include: <br />•Prepare and update Hazard Mitigation Plans <br />•Advise on potential post-disaster mitigation projects during recovery <br />•Critical Infrastructure and Key Resources (CIKR) assessments <br />•Local participation in the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP)
