MINO'PES
Larks & Recreation Commission
January 6, 1994
USE OF Sanders presented some background information for the new
CITY Commission members on Rue's request for use of the park
PROPERTY property located east of the Trane Company at 20 Yorkton
Court.
Wehrle asked Rue for his reaction to Sanders' plan for the
site. Rue stated that he has met with representatives of
the Trane Company to discuss the plan. He indicated that
there were a couple of concerns they had with the plan. The
first concern was does the 30 foot walkway easement come off
the 19,000 square feet of park property? The other concern
they have is with the location of the additional parking to
the north of the property. He indicated that when a 55 foot
truck/trailer backs up to the loading dock to the north, the
truck has to pull right up against the berm in order to have
enough room to maneuver. Rue is also concerned with
retaining the large trees in that area and he is unsure
where their property lines are for placement of additional
parking. Rue felt that the scale on Sanders plan may not be
correct.
Wehrle told Rue that he has been at the site during the day
and there has been 20 to 30 parking stalls unused. Wehrle
wanted to know how much additional parking is needed by the
Trane Company. Rue stated that the Trane Company needs 10
to 20 extra stalls due to additional shifts and employees
planned for the future. Rue indicated that he has made some
arrangements for shared parking with some of the other
businesses in the area. Therefore, the parking need is not
so critical right now.
Rue indicated that the employees of Trane have a bocce ball
court on the park property presently and they would like to
retain it. However, Sanders' plan does not show the court.
Rue stated that he would agree to level the park property
and Trane will seed or install plantings on it if they are
able to use the property.
Wehrle was unsure if the City could accommodate all of the
parking needed. He felt that the first step would be to
measure the property to see where the property lines are and
to see where the trees are located. Wehrle was sure that
the bocce ball court could be added to the plan.
Holm asked where the public would park when using the park.
Rue stated that they could park in Trane's lot. Wehrle
stated that the park would be designed to be used as a
neighborhood park. Therefore, residents of the area would
walk to the park.
-2-
