MINUTES
Parks & Recreation Commission
Nebruary 3, 1994
U:: N: OF CITY Sanders stated that he had received a survey on the land
PI20PERTY where the Trane Company is located on Yorkton Court from the
property owner Don Rue. However, the Council has asked that
Sanders not spend any more time on the matter until more
issues are resolved.
Sanders stated that the other parcel on South Owasso
Boulevard adjacent to the Water Works that the Commission
was interested in for park land is owned by Richard
Schreier. It contains 2.61 acres and has an estimated
market value of $85,500 as determined by the County
Assessor.
Wehrle asked if there was any other land in the area that
would work for park land. Sanders stated that the only land
he is aware of is good, valuable land, but a thorough search
has not been done in that area.
Johnson asked why land was not accepted instead of money for
Jackson Heights' park charge. Wehrle stated that they
accepted money since the land would not have amounted to
much due to the size of the development.
Remerowski stated that there is still the City-owned
triangular piece of property next to the Water Works trail
by Jackson Heights where a tot lot could be added.
Wehrle felt that if the park land next to the Trane Company
was sold to Rue, it would then become industrial.
Therefore, the industrial area would be moving closer to the
residential development. Remerowski stated that Rue plans
to develop some of his land into a basketball court and
bocce ball court so that would be available to the
residents. Sanders felt that discussion on the park land
next to the Trane Company should wait until Rue returns from
vacation.
Wehrle stated that he likes the idea of an alternative site
for park property in the area, but he is unsure where it
could go.
Holm asked what the value is of the park land next to the
Trane Company. No one was sure. Remerowski felt that if
the land is sold to Rue, the money should be put into a tot
lot for the area. Wehrle felt that if the park land next to
Trane Company is cut apart, it may not serve Rue's needs nor
serve the community's needs as a park.
Wehrle asked about the land on the east side of Jackson
-8-
