MINUTES
PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION
MARCH 3, 1994
Remerowski felt that off-street access to the park was
preferable if it is feasible to do. Remerowski pointed
out that it might not be feasible, and if property owners
are opposed to a sidewalk, they will come forward to the
City Council.
Wehrle recommended off-street access to Nadeau Park on
Lake Street from Jackson Street on the south side of the
street as part of the proposed Lake Street improvement.
Motion seconded by Remerowski.
Motion carried 4 - 1. Greger called in opposing.
The Commission reviewed the proposed improvement of
Lakeshore Avenue/Old County Road C/Jackson Street as
relates to pedestrian traffic.
Johnson recommended that as part of any 1994 improvement
to the Lakeshore/Old County Road C/Jackson Street area,
the Park Master Plan be followed and pedestrian traffic
improvements be made via a separate sidewalk on Lakeshore
Avenue from Little Canada Road to Australian, omitting
any improvement on Australian at this time, and then on
unimproved Jackson Street continuing down to and
including improved Jackson Street to Demont Avenue on the
west side of the railroad tracks with a separate
sidewalk.
Motion seconded by Magnuson.
Motion carried 4 - 1. Greger opposing.
The Commission clarified that this motion does include
unimproved Jackson Street, feeling that, if possible, any
sidewalk improvement done along the west side of improved
Jackson be continued on unimproved Jackson Street up to
Australian.
4'REE GRANTS Sanders reported that he has submitted two tree grant
applications for Gervais Mill Park totaling $10,000,
$5,000 of which would be a City match either through
funds or in-kind contributions.
Wehrle asked if the grants had environmental
requirements.
11
