MINUTES
PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION
MARCH 3, 1994
Wehrle also suggested that the Dennery property might be
available and those property owners should be contacted
again. Wehrle asked the status of the Canada Woods West
plat and when development of this site will proceed.
The Director believed that this project would proceed in
1994, and it was pointed out that the City has required a
park dedication of land under the powerline easement.
Remerowski recommended that the Park Acquisition Fund be
retained for park land acquisition and/or park
improvements to existing City parks, and indicated that
the Park and Recreation Commission will be reviewing in
the very near future whatever pieces of property are left
to purchase for the completion of the City's park system.
Motion seconded by Johnson.
Motion carried 5 - 0.
E'EDESTRIAN The Commission began review of a proposed pedestrian
PLAN plan submitted by City staff. Wehrle pointed out that a
good deal of the plan appears to be based on the Park
Master Plan. Wehrle asked
if the City was looking to develop sidewalks in areas as
new roads are developed or existing roads reconstructed.
The Director reported that staff in discussing concrete
sidewalks versus blacktop felt that a concrete sidewalk
removed from the roadway was preferable. The Director
pointed out the bituminous walkway along County Road C
and the fact that this walkway is in need of repair.
Sanders felt that a sidewalk along County Road C to
Little Canada Road and along Little Canada Road to
Edgerton Street would be a good candidate for a grant
since this trail would connect with the regional trail
system.
The Director pointed out that there may be a lack of
space along Little Canada Road between Centerville Road
and St. John's Church for a detached sidewalk. The
Director was not sure it was necessary to have a 4-lane
roadway in this area, suggesting that the road could be
6
