MINUTES
PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION
MARCH 3, 1994
restriped and tapered to two lanes in this area.
Wehrle pointed out that the grant that Sanders is
referring to is a matching grant program that is
available for the next couple of years.
The Director reported that when staff put together this
proposed pedestrian plan, it did not consider where
funding would come from for the improvements, but rather
how to tie various areas of the City together.
Wehrle suggested that the City's assessment policy will
have to be looked at in reference to sidewalk
improvements.
The Director was not sure the City was prepared to
provide matching funds for a grant to improve a trail on
County Road C from Rice Street to Little Canada Road and
ultimately to Edgerton and around the lake.
Sanders suggested that he discuss this with the City
Administrator. Wehrle
agreed unless the improvement would provide a direct link
to the City's parks and was a part of the City's trail
plan.
Sanders pointed out the need for trail along Viking Drive
on the west side of the freeway and the need for a trail
loop in that area. Sanders asked if the policy was to
require sidewalks as properties develop.
The Director pointed out that this is the first time this
7
