MINUTES
PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION
APRIL 7, 1994
the west side of Edgerton which is for sale. Remerowski
felt that the City should find out the asking price for
this parcel. Remerowski pointed out that this parcel
would be a piece of the City's trail easement.
Sanders suggested that the City Administrator contact the
Edgerton property owner.
Johnson suggested that the property on the east side of
Jackson Street just south of Jackson Heights be looked
at. Johnson felt that the location of this property as a
park site was good given that it is between the single-
family home development on the west and the apartments on
the east.
Morelan suggested that once the potential acquisition
sites are all identified, the City should send letters of
inquiry to the property owners.
Sanders pointed out the Water Works property in the
northwest corner of the City. Sanders did not feel it
necessary for the City to purchase this site since he
felt it would remain in control of the St. Paul Water
Department. Sanders reported that in the past the
Commission has discussed various parcels owned by the
School District. There was interest expressed in some of
these parcels should the School District ever decide to
sell since these sites are very valuable recreation land.
Morelan pointed out that School District #623 retained
the land on the east side of the old Capital View School.
If the District decides to sell that land some day,
Morelan felt that the City should pursue a purchase.
Morelan pointed out that there is also property on the
east side of the Roseville Area Middle School building
that the City would be interested in purchasing as well.
Remerowski pointed out that the majority of the property
which would be needed to extend the City's powerline
trail system on the west side of Edgerton is not for sale
at this time.
Hartmann reported that the majority of that property is
owned by the Heinel and Wilson families.
Morelan agreed that the City should pursue the Edgerton
lot which is currently for sale.
3
