MINUTES
PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION
APRIL 7, 1994
Remerowski felt the City had to approach property owners
when the land becomes available for purchase, otherwise
the prices will be inflated.
Sanders pointed out that the existing powerline trail
property was acquired by the City as it became available.
Sanders also reported that the Dennery family was
contacted a few years ago about their powerline property
near LaBore Road. The Dennery~s were not interested in
selling at the time since they thought they would be
developing their property, and were thinking that the
powerline property could be used to satisfy the City~s
park charge requirements.
Remerowski felt that issue could be worked out now prior
to the development of the remainder of the Dennery site.
Morelan suggested that a letter be sent to the Dennery
family inquiring into the status of that site, and if
there is interest in selling it to the City.
Holm suggested that before the City pursue a purchase of
wetland property, the legal status of the property be
determined. Holm suggested that if the DNR has
restrictions on the property, it may not be necessary for
the City to purchase it.
Remerowski suggested that the wetland property may not be
developable, but pointed out that the City could place
wildlife observation decks on these sites. Remerowski
did not believe there were any park development needs
beyond that for the Turnquist or Schletty wetlands.
Morelan suggested that floating boardwalks similar to
those at the nature center in Roseville may be another
possibility. Sanders suggested bird houses and nesting
areas.
Johnson recommended that the City check into the
availability of the following five parcels of property
for park purposes:
Lot on west side of Edgerton adjacent to the
powerlines which is currently for sale;
Site east of Jackson Street and south of
Jackson Heights plat;
4
