MINUTES PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION APRIL 7, 1994 its help in planting that day. The planting will be a part of the Arbor Day Celebration and is scheduled to take place from 9 A.M. to 1 P.M. Park Commissioners are invited and asked to help with the planting. Sanders pointed out that an Arbor Day Celebration is a required part of the City's Tree City USA status. Also, the Mayor has proclaimed April 30th as Arbor Day in Little Canada. The celebration will include a brief program dedicating the plantings and then the actual planting will begin. Morelan reported that the Sheriff's Department held a memorial service in Pioneer Park for the police dog that was recently killed in the line-of-duty near the park. The Sheriff's Department would like a tree dedicated and planted in the park in memory of the dog. The City has agreed to dedicate the tree, and the Sheriff's Department will provide a plaque. Morelan suggested that after the Arbor Day Celebration in Gervais Mill Park, and short dedication ceremony be held in Pioneer Park. Morelan reported that a program for the Arbor Day Celebration is being prepared, and he will mail it out to everyone as a reminder. PIONEER PARK Morelan reported that the outfield fencing at Pioneer FENCING Park has been installed and is ready to go for the 1994 ball season. DEER Remerowski asked if any deer have been taken in the area. Morelan replied that the City has issued one bow and arrow permit for the Frattalone and Heinel properties. That permit will run to the end of April. Morelan was not sure if any deer had yet been taken. PARK TOUR The Commission again discussed the park tour which will begin prior to its next meeting. Commissioners should meet at City Hall at 6:30 P.M. Some of the properties which would be toured are the lot on Edgerton which is currently for sale and would provide a piece of the City's powerline trail easement, the property under the powerlines from Edgerton over to Desoto, the park 7
