MINUTES
Parks & Recreation Commission
May 5, 1994
Hartmann suggested placing some memorial wording on the sign
for the park recognizing Roy Nadeau, Jr. The Director
stated that the City already named the park after Roy
Nadeau, Jr. He felt it may not be appropriate for the City
to dedicate any other piece of equipment in the park to his
memory. However, if someone else was willing to do so, the
Director felt that would be fine.
Hartmann felt that a sign in the park containing the name of
the park and the fact that the land was donated by Roy
Nadeau, Jr. would be cost effective since a sign must be
purchased for the park anyway. Wehrle stated that he would
rather see a tree with a tag containing the memorial wording
in the park. He indicated that he was in favor of this due
to the property that was donated by Roy Nadeau, Jr. He felt
it would be a good will gesture to the family.
Remerowski felt that the donation of a tree by the City
would be very insignificant compared to the land Nadeau
donated. Johnson felt that a plaque about Roy Nadeau, Jr.
would be interesting so that people would know who donated
that land.
Remerowski preferred the memorial wording on the sign for
the park rather than on a tree tag. Hartmann agreed stating
that on the sign, everyone will see it. However, if the
wording is placed on a tag on the tree, it may disappear or
not be noticed.
Remerowski again commented that he liked Greger's idea about
a plaque system at City Hall recognizing the donations of
various people.
The Director stated that the Council is not pushing the
issue. Therefore, there is no rush on this matter.
Wehrle recommended waiting on the memorial for Roy Nadeau,
Jr. until the sign for Nadeau Wildlife Park is installed and
then a nice dedicated plaque could be placed in his memory.
Motion seconded by Remerowski.
Motion carried 6 - 0.
CANINE The Director stated that the canine memorial has already
MEMORIAL been talked about with the Sheriff's Department by members
of City staff and Council. He indicated that the Sheriff's
Department has been told that the City would provide a
memorial at the City's expense.
Wehrle felt a tree would be nice. However, he preferred a
tag to a plaque. The Director stated that the Sheriff's
-5-
