MINUTES
Parks & Recreation Commission
June 2, 1994
With the development of Nadeau Wildlife Park, Wehrle did not
see a big need for the walkway down to Savage Lake either.
However, he felt that the Commission should not relinquish
the walkway easement since there is already a sewer easement
in the area.
Johnson recommended retaining the walkway easement from Lake
Street down to Savage Lake.
Motion seconded by Wehrle.
Motion carried 5 - 0.
Wehrle felt that a recommendation on Item #6 of the agenda
should not come from the Parks and Recreation Commission
unless it deals directly with a parks and recreation plan.
Sanders stated that he supports the pedestrian plan that
City staff worked on and indirectly he felt it relates to
parks and recreation in that they are walking and biking
trails which form a pedestrian network. Remerowski stated
that he was not willing to make a recommendation on the
sidewalk issue as it is stated in Item #6. He felt it was
too broad. Sanders agreed stating that it should be tied to
the pedestrian plan or recreational access to the City's
facilities.
CITY HALL Wehrle stated that he briefly looked through a catalogue for
PLAQUE a plaque to recognize donations made to the City. He
PROGRAM found a brick and the donor recognition plaque and a walnut
plaque with brass plates. Wehrle stated that he was in
favor of a simple plaque to be placed at City Hall.
Johnson asked about the minimum amount a donation would have
to be in order to be recognized on the plaque. Wehrle felt
that eventually a minimum could be set.
Howard suggested putting an article in the City newsletter
with a picture of the plaque and also sending a separate
mailing to businesses to help start the program. Wehrle
stated that instead of setting a minimum, a list of items
and their cost could be published in the newsletter.
Remerowski felt that small gifts should also be
acknowledged. Greger felt that some residents may not want
to be recognized on the plaque if they are only giving a
small donation.
Wehrle stated that he will talk to the City Administrator
about the possibility of the City funding the mailing to
businesses on the plaque, and he will also have more
information sent to the City on the plaques.
Greger asked if there was a local trophy shop in town that
-6-
