MINUTES
Parks & Recreation Commission
June 2, 1994
east of Edgerton Street under the power lines is an easement
or owned by N5P.
Sanders stated that he had told the Administrative Assistant
that the north 100 feet of land would be desired on
McNamara's property on Jackson Street. He asked for the
Commission's comments on this matter. Wehrle felt that 100
feet should be minimal. Remerowski felt that the City
should ask McNamara for a price on that land and if the
price is reasonable, the City should obtain an appraisal on
it. Wehrle felt that the whole 4.54 acres were not needed
in that area to serve the neighborhood. Sanders felt that
100 feet should be the minimum. Remerowski felt it should
also be the maximum for that neighborhood.
Wehrle stated that he would like a walkway easement on the
Turnquist property, but is unsure if purchase of the
property is necessary. Sanders felt it was worth pursuing
and the Commission should meet with the property owner to
discuss the property. Remerowski agreed.
Remerowski felt that the City should wait until the
Belland/Denery property is developed to obtain park land
dedication since Mrs. Denery wishes to sell all three of the
parcels she owns. Wehrle agreed stating that obtaining this
land was not a great priority.
Remerowski felt nothing should be done with the Schletty
parcel since they did not respond to the City's inquiry on
their property.
Sanders felt that McNamara and Turnquist should be invited
to attend the next Commission meeting regarding the sale of
their property. He felt that the City Administrator should
write them letters requesting their attendance. Remerowski
felt that the City Administrator should also obtain the City
Council's approval on the matter since the Commission is
talking purchase with those property owners.
1994 TRAIL Sanders indicated that the plans and specifications have
IMPROVEMENTS been prepared for the Westwind and Pioneer Park trails.
Sanders stated that the Westwind trail will be a six foot
wide bituminous trail with six inches of base and two inches
of surface. It is expected to cost approximately $20,000.
The Pioneer Park trail will have an additional inch of base
and two inches of bituminous surface, and should cost just
under $30,000.
Remerowski felt that the loop on the Pioneer Park trail
should not be paved now, but when the parking lot is added.
Wehrle felt it could be bid as an alternate.
-8-
