MINUTES
Parks & Recreation Commission
July 7, 1994
MCNAMARA Dick McNamara notified the Director earlier this afternoon
PROPERTY that he would not be able to be in attendance at tonight's
meeting due to a death in the family. Discussion on the
McNamara property was tabled until the owner could be
present. It was felt that the owner should be invited to
attend the meeting in August.
POWERLINE Wehrle felt that the Commission had no interest in the lot
PROPERTY just north of the NSP property on the west side of Edgerton
Street. He stated that NSP has been very cooperative with
obtaining walkway easements in the area. Therefore, he felt
that the land privately owned was the issue to be discussed.
Wehrle stated that there are three private owners in the
area -- Heinel, Nordstrom and Hoelscher. He felt that these
owners should be invited to a future Commission meeting to
discuss the possibility of the City obtaining a walkway
easement on their properties.
Wehrle stated that there could be a problem with crossing
Edgerton Street. Remerowski felt that the City should
obtain the easements first and then discuss the crossing.
The Director stated that he knows Heinel is not in favor of
a walkway easement on his land. The Director stated that
even though Heinel may not want an easement on his property
now, when the land is developed, the Commission could
possibly gain access at that time. Remerowski felt that
Heinel should be invited to the meeting anyway so that he
could formally voice his opinion for or against the proposal
for the record. The Director agreed stating that the City's
position on the matter could also be explained to him.
Wehrle felt that the City Administrator should send letters
to the private owners asking them to attend the Commission
meeting in August to discuss the possibility of purchasing
walkway easements on their properties.
Wehrle recommended that informally, the Commission members
should visit the site to see what it looks like. Public
Works has staked the property.
Remerowski recommended obtaining the City Council's approval
to discuss the possible purchase of walkway easements on the
Heinel, Nordstrom, and Hoelscher properties.
Motion seconded by Wehrle.
Motion carried 6 - 0.
SPOONER PARK Wehrle stated that the City has received a petition to
TENNIS COURTS resurface the tennis courts at Spooner Park. He stated that
-3-
