Minutes
Parks & Recreation
September 5, 1996
bathrooms at the shelter areas. Remerowski stated he felt
that this is not the time to criticize the plan, now that
the plan is pretty much finalized. He stated if we were
going to criticize, maybe we should have gotten on the
shelter committee. He stated he has questions of "Why?"
also, but now he is going to accept what the committee has
come up with as a plan to work with and leave it at that.
Greger stated to see a figure without bathrooms may help the
shelter to move forward. Remerowski remarked the shelter
will move forward anyway whether the money is there or not
because there are charities in line to fund it if necessary.
He felt these charities will most likely come forward in
time. Morelan remarked that part of the $95,000 that has
been promised so far is in fact money that is dedicated to
the handicapped bathrooms and is from Lake Owasso Residence.
SURVEY Ables received a package of sample surveys, and will
COMMITTEE condense the information. She suggested meeting before
REPORT the next Parks & Recreation meeting to go over the
rough draft.
UPDATING PARK Sanders stated that updating the Park Master Plan on a
MASTER PLAN piecemeal basis would work. He remarked that the more
important things to update would be the maps and tables
because these are used the most.
Johnson made a motion that the important charts and maps, as
determined by the Park and Recreation Director, be updated
in the Park Master Plan to $400.00 in expenditure.
Remerowski seconded the motion.
Motion carried 7 - 0.
TAX FORFEITED Johnson asked if the other members would like the Ruth
LAND Street land considered for park property.
RUTH STREET
& LAKE STREET Sanders remarked that these parcels have been before us in
the past, and the land was turned down for consideration.
He commented that once again, he felt this land was not
appropriate for park land. The parcel on Lake Street and
Park Street is wetland area, and the only value for the City
would be to look at a larger redevelopment of that area.
Sanders did not envision the area individually as a park
property.
Greger asked if either location is suitable for building a
home. Sanders stated the land at Lake Street and Park
Street is not suitable for building, and he felt the Ruth
Street land had possibilities for building. Remerowski
added that the Ruth Street lot is the lot that Jim Gustafson
discussed maintaining for neighborhood children during the
8
