MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />DECEMBER 20, 2023 <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2023-12-164 APPOINTING TAELOR JOHNSONAS PLANNING <br />COMMISSION CHAIR FOR 2024 <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Kwapick. <br />Ayes (5). Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. <br />2024 PARKS AND REC COMMISSION APPOINTMENTS AND SELECTION OF PARKS <br />AND REC COMMISSION CHAIR FOR 2024 <br />The City Clerk explained tonight the Council is asked to consider appointments to the Parks and Rec <br />Commission as well as the selection of a Chair. She reviewed the members with expiring terms, <br />noting that Commissioner Abruzzese has chosen not to serve another term, while Commissioners Hipp <br />and Delong Miller requested to be reappointed. She stated that one new application was received, and <br />an interview was completed, and the interview committee recommends that Jason Owens be appointed <br />to the third position. <br />D. Miller wanted to disclose that Maggie Delong Miller is his wife. He stated that she was selected to <br />fill his vacant seat after he was elected to the City Council. <br />Mayor Fischer commented that Jason Owens is also a great candidate and will make a great addition to <br />the Commission. <br />Gutierrez introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2 023-12-165 APPOINTING SHA WN HIPP, MA GGIE DEL ONG <br />MILLER, AND JASON OWENS TO THREE-YEAR TERMS FROM 2024-2026 <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Mayor Fischer. <br />Ayes (5). Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. <br />Mayor Fischer introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2023-12-166 APPOINTING RON HORWATHAS PARKS AND REC <br />COMMISSION CHAIR FOR 2024 <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by D. Miller. <br />Ayes (5). Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. <br />AWARD CITY HALL BASEMENT WATERPROOFING CONTRACT <br />The Public Works Director stated that the basement at City Hall is wet sporadically and there have <br />been attempts by city staff to install drain tile, but that has not been enough. He stated that upon <br />inspection by a contractor, it was determined that landscaping and new drain tile should be added <br />outside, but that would come forward as a separate project. He stated that two quotes were received <br />for installing interior drain tile, noting that this project could occur this winter. He stated that the two <br />quotes were $15,640 and $29,802, and staff recommends proceeding with the lower quote from <br />In <br />
