6 <br /> <br />City of Little Canada Personnel Policy <br />• Closure of the employee’s place of business due to weather or public emergency or employee’s <br />need to care for a family member whose school or place of care has closed due to weather or <br />public emergency <br />• Employee’s inability to work or telework because the employee is prohibited from working by <br />the employer due to health concerns related to transmission of a communicable illness related <br />to a public emergency <br />• Employee’s inability to work or telework because the employee is seeking or awaiting the <br />results of a diagnostic test for, or medical diagnosis of, a communicable disease or the <br />employee’s employer has requested a test or diagnosis <br />• When it has been determined by the health authorities or a health care professional that the <br />presence of the employee or family member in the community would jeopardize the health of <br />others because of the exposure of the employee or family member to a communicable disease, <br />whether or not the employee or family member has actually contracted the disease <br /> <br />Definition of family member under ESST as defined in Minnesota Statute 181.9445, subd. 7: <br /> <br />• Child, foster child, adult child, legal ward, child for whom the employee is legal guardian, or <br />child to whom the employee stands or stood in loco parentis <br />• Spouse or registered domestic partner <br />• Sibling, stepsibling or foster sibling <br />• Biological, adoptive or foster parent; stepparent, or a person who stood in loco parentis when <br />the employee was a minor child <br />• Grandchild, foster grandchild or step-grandchild <br />• Grandparent or step-grandparent <br />• A child of a sibling of the employee <br />• A sibling of the parents of the employee <br />• A child-in-law or sibling-in-law <br />• Any of the family members listed above of a spouse or registered domestic partner <br />• Any other individual related by blood or whose close association with the employee is <br />equivalent of a family relationship <br />• Up to one individual annually designated by the employee <br /> <br />Eligibility <br /> <br />PTO/ESST and ESST accrual for each eligible employee shall begin on the date of policy inception, <br />employment with the City, or if a change of status creates eligibility on the date the employee becomes <br />eligible. <br /> <br />All regular, full-time employees will earn full PTO/ESST benefits. <br /> <br />Regular part-time employees are eligible for PTO/ESST provided they work 20 or more hours per <br />week. These employees shall accrue PTO/ESST pro-rated according to the accrual percentage of full- <br />time equivalency status. For example, an employee with a half-time schedule (20 hours per week) <br />would earn PTO/ESST at a rate of 50% of full-time employees. <br />
