CITY OF LITTLE CANADA <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />RESOLUTION 2023-149 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING SUBMISSION OF AN APPLICATION TO THE 2023 <br />LOCAL ROAD IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM FOR THE LITTLE CANADA ROAD <br />AND COUNTRY DRIVE INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENT PROJECT <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Little Canada Road and Country Drive Intersection Improvement Project <br />(“Project”) would improve safety and congestion for both vehicles and pedestrians near the <br />intersection of Little Canada Road and Country Drive, would reconstruct and realign a portion of <br />Country Drive, and would include new pedestrian amenities along Country Drive; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Local Road Improvement Program (LRIP) administered by the Minnesota <br />Department of Transportation makes available up to $1,500,000 to apply towards projects on <br />local roads that are regionally significant, result in safety improvements, address transportation <br />deficiencies, and contribute to economic development; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the proposed Project would be regionally significant, providing improved safety <br />and mobility for vehicles and pedestrians at a major intersection that provides access to <br />residential and commercial properties throughout the City; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the proposed project is not fiscally possible without a transportation grant funding <br />award; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Little Canada is a state aid city and can receive and administer LRIP funds; and <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Little <br />Canada; that <br /> <br />1. The City Council hereby supports the Little Canada Road and Country Drive Intersection <br />Improvement Project; and <br /> <br />2. The City Council hereby supports the City's pursuit of LRIP funding and authorizes staff <br />to prepare and submit such application; and <br /> <br />3. The City Council hereby commits to funding project elements not eligible for LRIP <br />funding and ensuring the Project complies with LRIP funding requirements and <br />timelines. <br /> <br />Adopted by the Council this 29th day of November, 2023. <br /> <br /> _____________________________ <br /> Thomas Fischer, Mayor <br /> <br />Attest: __________________________________ <br /> Christopher Heineman, City Administrator
