MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />MAY 13, 2009 <br />FIRE <br />STATION <br />FENCE <br />GATE <br />REPLACEMENT <br />for a low interest rate for those property owners financing their HIA <br />assessments. <br />Mr. Montour inri•oduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2009-5-106 -AUTHORIZING THE RAMSEY <br />COUNTY FUNDING REQUEST APPLICATION IN THE AMOUNT <br />OF $400,000 FOR THE CANAI3URY CONDOMINIUMAND FLUER <br />ROYALE HOUSING IMPROVEMENT AREA PROJECTS <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Blesener. <br />Ayes (4). <br />Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. <br />The City Administrator reported that given safety concerns during the <br />snow plowing process, it is necessary to install a roll gate in the fence at <br />the Fire Station. The gate would be opened and snow pushed through and <br />down the bank. Currently, it has been necessary to remove the existing <br />section of fence during the winter months so snow can be pushed over the <br />bank. That bank has about an 8-foot drop into a grassy area. The <br />Administrator noted that two quotes have been received, the low quote <br />from Commercial Fence Contractors in the amount of $2,700. <br />Mr. Blesener introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTIONNO. 2009-5-707-AWARDING THE QUOTE OF <br />COMMERCIAL FENCE CONTRACTORS IN THE AMOUNT OF <br />$2, 700 FOR INSTALLATION OF A SLIDE GATE IN THE FENCING <br />AT THE FIRE STATION WITH FUNDING TO COME FROM THE <br />GENERAL CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT FUND <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Keis. <br />Ayes (4). <br />Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. <br />SELF- The City Administrator reported that the Parks Department has struggled <br />WATERING with keeping planters watered, both the large planters at the bus hub as <br />PLANTERS well as the hanging planters along Little Canada Road. The Administrator <br />indicated that in order to maintain the planters, it is necessary to water <br />them almost daily. The Administrator reported that a company out of <br />Thunder Bay sells planters made from recycled plastic that have reservoir <br />areas to hold water. Their claim is that given the reservoir area, only <br />weekly watering is necessary. The Administrator indicated that while <br />weekly watering may be overly optimistic, these planters will eliminate <br />the need for weekend watering.
