MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
FEBRUARY 14, 2024
RIEHIR OF PARKS AND RECREATION DIRECTOR POSITION
The City Administrator explained that they are just beginning the process to review the position before
posting. He stated that the revised position description was provided in the packet, to eliminate the
shared duties related to community engagement and outreach and better align with a Parks and
Recreation Director position.
The Council commended staff for the updates. Mayor Fischer also appreciated the realignment of the
position to focus on simply the parks and recreation position. He believed that this would be a
desirable position for candidates.
D. She stated that the change was suggested
by the contractor that the City uses for these inspections, and it would base the permit fee based on the
work needed in order to make the fee equitable to the job. She provided a few examples noting that
the change would lower the cost for some and increase the cost for others based on the scope of work.
Kwapick asked if this would be similar to charges from other communities. The City Clerk
commented that this contractor works for many cities, and they are all changing to this format. She
stated that this is the same system used for building permits as well.
T. Miller introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOL UTION NO. 2024-2-20 — AMENDING THE LITTLE CANADA FEE SCHED ULE
FOR COMMERCIAL ELECTRICAL PERMIT FEES AND APPROVING PUBLICATION
OF A SUMMARY ORDINANCE
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Kwapick.
Ayes (5). She explained that service provides necessary
training and certifications as well as providing educational materials and manuals. She noted that
SafeAssure was also present for the city's OSHA inspection, which was helpful. She stated that this is
an annual contract with a small, modest increase proposed for 2024.
3
