MINUTTS
CITY COUNCIL
MAY 27, 2009
*AWARD OF THE LOW QUOTE FOR 2009 CRACK FILLING AS
RECOMMENDED BY THE PUBLIC WORKS SUPERINTENDENT;
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by McGraw.
Ayes (4).
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
WHISPERING Mayor Blesener noted that Kevin Steinert has requested extension for
PINES- the recording of the Pinal Plat for Whispering Pines. Blesener noted
FINAL PLAT that there are two other plats that were approved within the last couple
EXTENSION of years which have not been seen through to conclusion. These are both
Preliminary Plats for Richie Place and for Canadian Woods. The
Preliminary Plat approval for Richie Place has expired. T'he Preliminary
Plat for Catiadiair Woods is valid until ,Tune 30, 2009, but the developer is
requesting an extension. That request will be considered at an upcoming
Council meeting.
The Mayor noted that since the consideration of the Whispering Pines,
Canadian Woods, and Richie Place plats, the City has modified its R-1
platting standards, requiring larger lot sizes. The reason for this is that the
pockets of undeveloped property a~•e in areas where larger lots would be in
keeping with the character of the surrounding area. When the Whispering
Pines Final Plat was approved, however, the developer made some
modifications to that plat to comply with the new standards that were
being considered. Blesener indicated that he, therefore, had no problem
with extending the time period for recording of the Whispering Pines final
plat.
Blesener noted that the Canadian Woods Preliminary Plat is somewhat
close to meeting the new standards, and the Council will consider whether
or not to grant an extension at its next meeting. Preliminary Plat approval
for Richie Place has expired, and a developer of that property will have to
begin the platting process and abide by the new R-1 standards.
'I"he City Administrator noted that the Richie Place plat was one of the
reasons that the City acted to modify its R-1 platting standards. The
density of the Richie Place plat was high and did not fit the character of
the area.
Mr. Blesener introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOL UTION NO. 2009-5-I14 - GRANTING A ONE YEAR
EXTENSION FOR THE RECORDING OF THE WHISPERING
PINES FINAL PLAT TO JUNE 6, 2010 AS REQUESTED BY KEVIN
STEINERT
