- April 13, 1977
Little Canada Planning Commission t
and the Tittle Canada City Council: .
In my attempt to prevent the further expansion of the
Terrace Heights trailer park; ' I went *to *the City Offices to
find out what the local codes are, pertaining to trailer --(or-_
mobile home) parks. Mr. Chlebeck informed me that Little Canada
has no such code. There is no set of standards; no regulations
or restrictions on trailer parks have ever been put into effect
by this city. which- would protect other home -owners from the ' kind
of problems we have: had with Terrace Heights.
There is a Minnesota State Code with which trailer parks
e X mJke;
must. comply..1 that code allows -trailers and Mobile homes to be
installed within 10 feet of a public street. Mr. Fred Mitchell
of the Minn. Dept. of Health, which enforces the state code, tells
me that it is up to -the `local government to provide other stan-
dards than those required by the state.. Apparently other communi-
ties have long since done so. _.
Roseville has one- trailer park and will never allow another.
It ria.s a substantial code for its one and only park, including
the requirement .that no. trailer be _ installed within 50 feet of a
public street.
Ut ale Canada has...three trailer.: parks and not . one. word -in
the City Code about - setbacks, construction, installation, or any
other standard:._. - The- local building inspector is 'not required
to ._inspect any..work or. installation at. any trailer park in -the
City of Little Canada.'
I think this situation needs to be remedied and I ask tre
Council to take action on it. I am enclosing copies of the
ville and Minnesota codes.
CLERK'S EXHIBIT NO.
Meeting-4-13-77
