Various groups have been contacted and are considering participating in a planting
project. So far, Bolton & Menk and Royal Credit Union staff have committed to planting.

Adoption solutions program
Several years ago, Parks and Recreation and Public Works Department staff partnered with
Bolton & Menk, the city’s engineering firm, to build an “adoption solution” program to
encourage public volunteerism. When discussing which facilities would benefit from volunteer
maintenance, parks, hydrants, and catch basins were selected specifically. Staff worked
extensively with Bolton & Menk geographic information system (GIS) team members to develop
a platform housed in ArcGIS, the city’s GIS system.

Additionally, staff worked with Bolton & Menk to enhance the program with a new partnership
through the state-wide Adopt-A-Drain program, which will integrate data in the city’s adoptable
catch basins. The platform has additional links to the city website, which provides FAQs on
maintaining once adopted, terms and conditions information, and information about the state-
wide Adopt-a-Drain program. This state-wide program encourages residents to adopt a storm
drain in their neighborhood. The adoption solutions program platform can be accessed online.

The adoption solution program live link has been added to the city website, advertised in the
city's April-June newsletter, and will be launched on social media during National Volunteer
Week.

Image 1 – Adoption application landing page
