<br /> <br /> STAFF REPORT <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />TO: Parks & Recreation Commission <br /> <br />FROM: Parks Wayfinding Subcommittee <br /> <br />DATE: April 4, 2024 <br /> <br />RE: Park Wayfinding Subcommittee Status Report <br />ACTION TO BE CONSIDERED: <br />This is an update and discussion item only; no action is required. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: <br />At the December 7, 2023, Parks and Recreation Commission meeting, staff reported on the <br />progress of the Park System Master Plan. One of the items discussed was utilizing the <br />Commission to help with the wayfinding signage at each park. Staff recommended forming a <br />subcommittee with three Commissioners to help continue to move this project in the right <br />direction and get it completed in 2024. <br /> <br />At the January 4, 2024, meeting, the Commission formally appointed the Wayfinding <br />Subcommittee, with Commission Mui serving as Chair and Commissioners DeLong Miller and <br />Williams serving on the subcommittee. <br /> <br />SUBCOMMITTEE UPDATE: <br />The subcommittee has been meeting on a regular basis via Zoom. <br />• January 23, 2024 <br />• February 23, 2024 <br />• March 28, 2024 <br /> <br />The subcommittee's work has been broken into three overarching categories, including design, <br />research, and iconography. <br /> <br />Design <br />At the February 23 meeting, the subcommittee reviewed overall design examples for the <br />wayfinding signage and provided feedback. At the March 28 meeting, those edits were reviewed, <br />additional feedback was provided, and a final layout was selected, with some design edits <br />requested. Two final layout options will be presented for consideration to the subcommittee for <br />final selection. <br /> <br />Research <br />Commissioner Williams has been completing research on the parks that should be incorporated <br />into the kiosk display. History, phenology, and photography for each park have been archived for <br />incorporation. At the March 28 meeting, the subcommittee continued discussing how to display
