Commissioner Williams has completed extensive and labor- <br />intensive research on seven of the parks thus far. <br /> <br />Iconography <br />In graphic design, iconography is defined as the use of symbols and visual elements to enhance <br />communication. Accessible icons can help ensure visitors can understand information regardless <br />of background. Iconography will be utilized to outline the facilities and amenities available at <br />each park. Recently, staff attended a meeting with staff at Ramsey County who are currently <br />working on a similar signage project. At that meeting, the importance of utilizing iconography <br />was discussed. Commissioner Delong-Miller is reviewing each park for amenities so applicable <br />iconography can be streamlined and developed. <br /> <br />Upcoming work <br />The final layout was selected with recommended edits. The timeline of design, research, and <br />iconography was discussed with the goal of presenting a sample mockup at the next Parks and <br />Recreation Commission meeting. <br /> <br />PARKS MASTER PLAN: <br />• Action Item: Improve signage and wayfinding <br />o Add additional wayfinding and signage elements throughout the city. Include <br />directional signs and maps at community parks. Create and distribute paper maps <br />of parks and trails for visitors and residents. <br /> <br /> <br />
