He noted that perhaps a theme could be identified as well and maybe that <br />matches the theme of Canadian Days. He also suggested guidelines could be helpful to ensure <br />that the art would be suitable for all ages, while also recognizing that art is subjective. <br /> <br />The Parks and Recreation Director commented that during the pilot there were two or three staff <br />members that made the decision on what would be appropriate. He commented that it was <br />impressive what the subcommittee was able to do with little to no resources and noted that there <br />was interest from people in seeing the art in the park. He stated that perhaps they could consider <br />something more permanent where the art could be installed to avoid the situation where pieces <br />go missing. He looked forward to the continuance of the program in 2025. <br /> <br />Commissioner Mui asked for details on ongoing financing. <br /> <br />The Parks and Recreation Director stated that perhaps the subcommittee could anticipate what a <br />budget could be for 2025 so that staff could attempt to fit that within the City budget as they <br />would not want to continue to rely on donations. <br /> <br />Commissioner Williams stated that perhaps a local scouting group could build the permanent <br />display stations. <br /> <br />Commissioner Mui commented that perhaps there are opportunities for sponsorships by local art <br />groups. <br /> <br />Commissioner Hipp recognized the work that Commissioner Churcher contributed to this <br />project. <br /> <br />It was the consensus of the Commission to continue the program for 2025. <br /> <br />NEW BUSINESS <br /> <br />RECREATION COORDINATOR UPDATE <br />The Recreation Coordinator highlighted some upcoming recreational events, activities and <br />programming opportunities for youth and adults. <br /> <br />PARKS SYSTEM UPDATE <br />The Parks and Recreation Director provided a summary of the recent and ongoing park <br />improvement projects. <br /> <br />2025 REACH FOR RESOURCES CONTRACT <br />The Parks and Recreation Director stated that a service gap was identified within the parks and <br />recreation system and therefore in 2025 the City will be contracting with Reach for Resources <br />for onsite inclusion services for program participants.
