MINUTES
Parks & Recreation Commission
July 16, 2009
Sullivan stated there were some very positive changes recommended in Concept Plait #3.
She liked the circular trail allowing residents to see the total park. Sanders commented, too,
that even though it would entail extensive renovation, it would really change the area and
give it a new look. Fahey asked that if the money were invested in this park if it could be
used for future Little Canada Park & Recreation programs. Morelan stated that it would not
be used for Little Canada Recreation programs and that is was strictly a neighborhood park.
He also stated there is no parking available for parents to attend any events. Commissioners
also thought concept #3 would be too costly, as the concrete border and sand would be
replaced also.
The comments for Concept Plan #2 wore mostly negative, commenting that the basketball
court would be hidden and not visible from the street and was located too close to the
playground area.
Maida made a motion to approve Concept Plan #1 as the renovation plan for Thunder Bay
Park IIe also recommended that the commission invite the residents from the Thunder Bay
Park neighborhood to one of the upcoming commission meetings to discuss this proposed
plan.
