i~lIidUTES
ity Council
~Gont'd.)
February 6, 19£30
Councilman Fahey stated that as part of the footing inspection the
lot lines should be checked. Fahey said that the City must, be sure
on a commercial building that the building is being built in the
right place. Fahey suggested that the Building Inspector could
call in the City Engineer 'to make this determination.
Councilman iJadeau stated that the City would incur a lot of expense
by bringing in the Engineer on all construction.
UeBace suggested that the City require a survey and that the property
stakes be in from all developers.
P~tr. Squires requested authority from the Council to call in the Engineer
on those developments which he feels it necessary.
DeBace commented that the City fee schedules should reflect costs
that would be incurred by bringing in 'the City Engineer on a project.
The City Clerk stated that on a commercial development if it is necessary
to bring the City Engineer in, the developer would be billed for the
cost.
mayor Hanson indicated to Mr. Squires that he did have the authority
to briny in the City Engineer on a project if he felt it necessary.
Councilman Fahey stated that if the stakes were in, all the building
Tnspector ~,vould have to do is measure from the stakes to determine
if the setbacks were O.K. Fahey suggested to the Building Tnspector
that perhaps on the more complex development he might cant to c~a.ll in the
Engineer to determine if the setbacks were being complied with.
The City Clerk informed 'the Council that the City requires a survey
for all development of unplatied property, and the City requests the
survey for development of platted property.
Mayor (Janson stated that perhaps the City should require the survey
and property stakes for all new development. The City Clerk suggested
that the Council direct the City Attorney 'to amend 'the City's building
code to reflect this.
"fhe City Clerk also stated that sometimes on an improvement property
stakes are removed and not replaced. Councilman DeE3ace stated that the
City Engineer should replace all property stakes when they are removed
by an improvement going through the property. The cost of this should
be included in the project price.
Mr. Fahey introduced the followiny resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION N0. BO-2-56 - AUTHORIZItdG TI1E CITY ATTORNEY TO
AMEND THE LITTLE CAPIADA BUILDI(~!G CODE 70 REQUIRE Tk1,4T TFIE
04JPlER OF EITHER RESIDENTIAL, COMMERCIAL, OR INDUSTRIAL PROPERTY
BEING PIEtdLY DEVELOPED BE REQUIRED TO PROVIDE A SURVEY OF THE
PROPERTY AND FI/1VE THE LOT CORNERS OF THE PROPERTY S"fAl<ED OUT
AND IN PLACE PRIOR TO TfiE FOOTIiiGS Ii~lSPECTION BY TFIE BUILDING
Ik1SPECTOR
Page -2-
