MINUTES
City Council
(Cont'd.)
February 21, 1980
Councilman Fahey asked Mr. McNamara what price he would be willing to
accept for the property.
Mr. McNamara stated that the price has not been negotiated yet. I-le
stated that he and Mr. Jacobson are flexible on the price. They are
also interested in developing the front portion of the property.
Mayor Hanson stated that the City will only be allowed $1,500.00 per
housing unit for the purchase of lend. That means $90,000.00 far
the purchase of property if the City is going to build a 60 unit
building.
Councilman DeBace stated that the next thing the Council should do
is get an Architect to give the Council a rendering of how the
senior citizen building would be laid out on the McNamara property.
Fahey stated that he would like two things: 1. to see how the building
would fit on the property, and 2. to know what the cost of the
property would be to determine if the project would be feasible.
Fahey also stated that he thinks his in-laws, who are residents of
this area, would be opposed to the senior housing development in their
neighborhood.
Hanson stated that Mr. Rice and HUD will be looking at tYie property on
Monday. Hanson stated that the purpose of tonight's meeting was to see
what the people of the area thought about the possibility of this
development going in their neighborhood. Flanson stated that the City
does not want any surprises with this project.
Councilwoman Scalze stated that if there is any opposition to 'the
project, she would not be in favor of it. Hanson stated that if
there was opposition, he would not be in favor of it either.
Councilman Fahey stated that the Council must keep in mind the March
31 deadline. Fahey suggested that the Council authorize the City
Attorney to negotiate a price for the purchase of the property.
Mr. Fahey introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION N0. 80-2-100 - AUTHORIZING THE CITY ATTORNEY
TO DETERMINE THE PURCHASE PRICE PER SQUARE FOOT OF THE
RESIDENTIAL PROPERTY IN QUESTION, WHICH WOULD BE APPROXIMATELY
THREE ACRES OF RESIDENTIAL PROPERTY LOCATED NORTH OF THE
COMMERCIAL PROPERTY FRONTING ON LITTLE CANADA ROAD
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Mr. Nadeau.
Ayes (5) Fahey, Nadeau, Hanson, Scalze, DeBace.
Nayes (0).
Resolution declared adopted.
This resolution appears in Resolution Book No. 6, Page 63.
Page -6-
