MINUTES
City Council
(Cont'd.)

March 12, 1980
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Mr. Fahey.
Ayes (2) Nadeau, Fahey.
Nayes (3) DeBace, Hanson, Scalze.
Resolution denied.
This resolution appears in Resolution Bool< No. 6, Pages 75 and 76.
The City Planner asked what the zoning boundaries of the Little Canada
Road-Jackson Street property were. The Attorney stated that the property
was rezoned in accordance with the zoning map. The rezoning doesn't
actually state what the depth of the commercial property in that area
is.
The Planner stated that the senior citizen housing development as shown
by the architect in his model is in a very desirable location. However,
the architect has the development shown on some B-2 property that Messrs.
McNamara and Jacobsen have plans for.
Councilman Fahey asked Mrs. Gallagher if the senior citizens have any
alternative sites in mind. Mrs. Gallagher replied that Vaclnais Heights
is considering such a development in combination with a nursing home.
Councilman Fahey stated that perhaps the City should now contact Mr.
Scheier regarding his property. Scalze suggested that City consider
the Schroeder property.
Fahey suggested that the Attorney could meet with Scheier or the Planner
could come up with a proposal that the City could present to Scheier.
Councilman Nadeau suggested that the whole matter be turned over to a
developer and let them come in with a proposal. DeBace stated that he
would like to see a private developer handle the senior citizen housing
development.
Fahey suggested that the paper could let it be know that the City of
Little Canada is looking for proposals from developers on senior citizen
housing.
The Planner stated that other cities have established site selection
criteria for such developments. Scalze stated that the Council did
have criteria established for the sites they would consider.
Councilman Fahey suggested that the Council wait until after the November
election before doing any more on the senior citizen housing. There
may be some new members to the Council at that time. Until then the
Council could be willing to look .at proposals from private developers.
Page -15-
