<br /> MINUTES <br /> City Council <br /> (Cont.) <br /> April 9, 1980 <br /> Health The City Clerk is suggesting that a salary be set for the Health <br /> Inspector Inspector. Councilman Fahey suggested that the Council wait and see <br /> what kind of calls the Health Inspector is asked to make, and the type <br /> of reports the Council receives from him. <br /> Hamel The Attorney reported that Mr. Widmer is not happy with the outcome of <br /> Goat the trial regarding the Hamel's goats. Attorney Parks reported that <br /> Matter when the case came up for trial, Mr. Widmer was out of town. Mr. <br /> Widmer was the City's complaining witness in the case. Mr. Widmer's <br /> son testified in his behalf, but he could not say whether the offensive <br /> oder came from the goats or the horse on the Hamel property. <br /> Attorney Parks informed the Council that Mr. Hamel has written the <br /> City requesting an apology and reimbursement for his legal costs <br /> incurred in the case. Parks stated that it is his opinion that Mr. <br /> Hamel is not entitled to reimbursement. <br /> Mayor Hanson suggested that the City's livestock ordinance be reviewed, <br /> and if Mr. Hamel is not in compliance with the livestock ordinance, he <br /> should be cited. <br /> Attorney Parks stated that Mr. Hamel was cited for a nuisance previously. <br /> Ele has not been cited under the City's livestock ordinance. Parks stated <br /> that during the pre-trial investigation it came out that the goats are <br /> not pets, but are being bred and their milk being taken. The goats <br /> would, therefore, be livestock and Mr. Hamel would be in violation of <br /> the City's livestock ordinance as he does not have a livestock permit. <br /> The Attorney stated that before he prepares a complaint he would like to <br /> investigate the situation with the other neighbors of the Hamel 's. <br /> Councilman Fahey suggested that the Attorney be directed to take whatever <br /> legal action is necessary to get the matter resolved. <br /> The Attorney looked at the City's present livestock ordinance, and <br /> determined that goats were included under the ordinance. <br /> Flouse Mayor Hanson reported that Dick Boss, Sr., Fire Chief, informed him that <br /> Numbering many houses in Little Canada are not numbered. During a fire call this <br /> can cause problems in locating a house. Mayor Hanson stated that he will <br /> try to come up with some type of promotion to get Little Canada citizens <br /> to number their houses. <br /> Free Dump Mayor Hanson stated that he will ask the Snowmobile Club to clean up <br /> Day the snowmobile trails in Little Canada, so that the debree collected <br /> can be disposed of on Free Dump Day. <br /> Mayor Hanson also stated that the Recreation Department should police <br /> the area around the hockey rinks at Kellogg Eligh School and pick up <br /> the trash in this area. <br /> Page -12- <br /> <br />
