MINUTES
City Council
November 12, 1980
Councilwoman Scalze suggested that approval of the building permit be
contingent upon the situation with NSP being resolved.
Mr. DeBace introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION P10. 80-11-428 - APPROVING THE BUILDING PERMIT
FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF A WAREHOUSE BY PREFERRED SHEETMETAL
PROVIDING THEY GET THE NECESSARY PERMITS AND COMPLY WITH
CODE
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Mr. Fahey.
ayes (5) DeBace, Fahey, Scalze, Nadeau, Flanson.
Nayes (0
Resolution declared adopted.
This resolution appears in Resolution book No. 6, Pages 277 and 278.
Fire Side Mayor Hanson stated that the Council has some materials in their agenda
Homes from Fire Side Homes which is just for their information.
Park Mrs. Runyon, representing the Park Commission, appeared before the Council
Commission to report on the survey the Park Commission did on City parks.
Report
The survey form was included in the Little Canada Free Press. The Free
Press has a circulation of 1,300 homes. 50 survey forms were returned.
Mrs. Runyon reported that most people want marked park routes and paths.
They would also like nature trails and a nature center. Most people
would also like neighborhood parks developed. The people would also
like to see activities scheduled in the parks.
Mrs. Runyon also informed 'the Council that the Park Commission would like
to be able to look at land for dedication as parks, rather than receiving
money from developers, if the development is in an area where they have
determined a neighborhood park to be feasible.
Mrs. Runyon also stated that the Council should consider marking new
streets for bicycle paths.
Larry Lee stated that North Oaks has determined that bicycles paths are
more dangerous to a bicycler than a street without a marked path. It
seems that on a bicycle path, the bicyclers feel they have a right-of-way
at intersections, and this is leading to accidents.
Councilman Fahey suggested that the Park Commission look into grants for
bicycle paths.
The City Clerk reported that the Westwinds wants to develop their own
park. Mrs. Runyon commented that it must be consistent with what the
Park Commission wants. The next Park Commission meeting is November 20th.
Paae -12-
