MINUTES
City Council
November 12, 1980
Mr. Fahey introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION N0. 80-11-420 - DELETING IMPROVEMENT N0. 81-2,
THE IMPROVEMENT OF GREENBRIER CIRCLE BY WATERMAIN, ON THE
GROUNDS THAT THE IMPROVEMENT WAS DEPENDENT UPON THE APPROVAL
OF IMPROVEMENT N0. 81-1
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Mr. Nadeau.
ayes (5) Fahey, Nadeau, Scalze, DeBace, Hanson.
Nayes (0).
Resolution declared adopted.
This resolution appears in Resolution Book No. 6, Page 273.
Hearing On Mayor Hanson opened the hearing on Improvement No. 81-3. Improvement
Improvement No. 81-3 is the improvement of Park Street from Demont to County Road C
No. 81-3 by right-of-way acquisition, grading, sanitary sewer, watermain, storm
sewer, gravel base, bituminous surface, concrete curb and gutter.
Mayor Hanson stated that the right-of-way that would be needed is on the
south end of the proposed Park Street. The Engineer stated that there
is a problem with the right-of-way that would be needed from the Veilleux
property and the Johnson property on Demont Street.
The Engineer reported that the cost of the improvements would be $253,000.
Broken down the cost would be $30.99 per front foot for sewer, $76.00 per
front foot for street and a figure less than the $21.6 estimated for
watermain previously. The cost could be less for watermain as
Improvement No. 81-1 and Improvement No. 81-2 were not approved.
Mr. Veilleux informed the Council that his house is presently 15 feet from
the west side of the 30 foot easement for Park Street. An additional
30 feet of right-of-way would be needed in this area.
The Engineer suggested that a jog could be put in Park Street as the City
did in Payne Avenue.
Mr. Johnson stated that his lot is 225 feet deep and he wondered if he
would be assessed this amount. The Engineer stated that he would be
assessed the full amount on water, but probably a lesser amount on the
street and sewer. The Engineer suggested that an additional 10 foot easement
could be obtained from Mr. Johnson and only a 40 foot road be put in for
the first 100 feet of Park Street.
Mr. Johnson suggested that a cul-de-sac be put in on the north end of
his property and not bring Park Street through to Demont.
Mr. Carley stated that he has calculated the watermain improvement cost
and it would be $17.00 per front foot.
Mr. Don Behr appeared before the Council and stated that he was in favor
of Improvement No. 81-3. He would like to see Park Street go through
for protection from the bars in the neighborhood. This would reduce the
amount of activity that goes on behind his home.
Page -6-
