Fahey felt that these lanes will protect bikers and joggers
~n the City. Fahey made the commen~t that he will not vote against
the bike lanes.
Mr. Forsberg suggested that the County should have been seeking
Federal funding to improve Edgerton Street.
Mr. Fahey asked if the City was under any time constraints to approve
the project. Mr. Learnord informed the Council that the first
communities submitting their approval to the State will probably get
the funding for the bike lanes.Mr. Learnord stated that even if the
City approved the project tonight, he could not guarantee that the
City will get the funding for the project.
Mayor Hanson stated that he was not 9n favor of the bike lanes until
there is a better situation on Edgerton Street. Forsberg stated that
the County should overlay Edgerton Street and restrict parking.
Mrs. Nardini stated that the City needs bike paths. Fls to the parking
problem, Nardini felt that the County will go along with the City on
parking. Nardini also felt that with the addition of the bike paths,
the City will have a good basis for getting the speed limit on Edgerton
reduced.
Two residents on Edgerton Street informed the Council that they were
supporters of the bike lane proposal.
Mr. Hanson introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION N0. 81-4-158 - TABLING FlCTION ON PHASF A OF
THE PROPOSED BIKE TRAIL FOR EDGERTON STREFT UNTIL TFIE
COUNTY BOFlRD INDICATES TO THE CITY ThIE FOLLOWING WILL
BE FlDDRESSED: 1.
