MINUT~S <br />Caty Council <br />April 8, 1981. <br />NIr, Forsberg stated that there is no way to solve this break-away <br />prpblem without repiacing the concrete met. <br />NIrs. Scalze stated that she won].d like to see the bike lanes in <br />Little Canada. Scalze felt there is a hazardous situation on Edgerton <br />with bikers. <br />Mr. Fahey commented that the iasue concerning the condition of Edgerton <br />is not before the Council at this time. <br />A residexit of the area stated that he was in favor of the bike lanes <br />as there are a lot of caxs exceedi.ng the speed limit on Edgerton. His <br />only concern would be allowing parking in the bike lanes, This <br />resident stated that he would not like to aee parking allowed in the <br />bike lanes. <br />Mr, Kotilinek of the County stated that other communitiea have received <br />the bike lanes quite we11, The bituminous shoulders are an impxovement, <br />Ths storm sewer work that would be done is an improvement. Mr. <br />Kotilinek stated that as to the drainage problems on Edgertan north <br />of Little Canada Road, perhaps it is time the City undertake a storm <br />sewer project. Mr< ~totilinek stated that the County is not in the <br />storm sewer business. <br />yir. Forsberg asked the County+s plans for overlaying F;dgerton Street, <br />Mr, 3Cotilinek stated that eventual'1y the street will be overlayed, <br />but that he aid not know the Countyos schedule £or doing this. <br />Mr. Koti:l.inek stated that in order £or the bike trail project to <br />be put in9 the City must approve it. If the City does not want the <br />bike lanes~ the County Board will dxop the issue, <br />Mr. I,earnord also stated that the City will not have to participate <br />in iiie £undi.ng of this project. The money comes Yrom gas tax funds <br />and the Cowaty wi11 be using their equipment and labor. Mr. Learnord <br />a].so sta.ted that there will be separate hearings £or Phases B and C <br />of the project. <br />Nlr. Forsberg asked if the City requested no parking bans along <br />Edgerton if it wou7.d slow the bike lane project up, I~3r, Learnord <br />stated that this issue could be considered at the same time as the <br />bike lanes by the County Board. On the matter of the reduction in <br />speed l:imit, the Department of Transportata.on would have to conduct <br />a study along Edgerton. <br />A resident asked if in the winter the whole o1' k.dgerton, including <br />the bike trai].s would be plowed.
