MINUTES
City Counc9l
May 13, 1981
Council's concern was that other cities are requiring this to provide
for the condominium possi6ility on duplexes and fourplexes in ~he future.
The City Engineer stated that there would be no prob1em with only having
one sewer connection per bui1ding.
Mr. Forsberg stated that he could not see requiring four separate water
lines for a fourplex. Forsberg suggested tha~ ~four meters woul~ be run
from one 1ine.
Mr. Fahey stated that the City would be protected in so far as an unpa9d
water b~ill cou1d constitute a lien on the property.
Mr. Hughes stated that he has built approximately 50 fourplexes and he
has not been required to run more than one waterline per bui1ding. Hughes
stated that ~this is requ9red in some cities for zero lot lines> but it is
not required on one ownership buildings.
Mr. Fahey suggested that the City provide in the PUD Agreement that should
these buildings ever condominiumize that separate water lines would be
required.
future Mayor Nanson questioned whether the City shou1cl consider some of the other
Im~rovements improvements not yet made in the City as the City wi11 have a contractor
in for the improvement of Park Street.
Mrs. Nardini suggested that this would be the time to consider watermain
improvement for Rice Street.
Mr. Forsberg suggested that the City advertise that they will cons~der
other improvements in the City at this time, and anyone interested shou1d
submit petitions. The Engineer suggested that other hearings could be
held before the Park Street improvement was ordered.
Mr. Fahey stated that he did not think the City should go out and sol5cit
water projects. Fahey felt the people shou1d come in on their own with
petitions. Fahey also suggested that Rice Street be considered.
Mayor Nanson suggested that the City Engineer prioritize his 1ist of
improvements not yet made in the City and the Council can consider the
improvements in the near future.
The City C1erk stated that the Park Street improvement shou1~ be made
by itse1f. Any other improvements would need a bond sale, and bonds
may not sell at this time.
Dike In The City F.ngineer reported that the dike being built in Map7ewood along
The City the Little Canada border is actually two dikes, one inside the o~her.
Of The City of P4aplewood has informed the Eng9neer that the developer plans
Map1ewood to build a ditch along the dike to take care of the drainage problem.
The developer will also maintain this ditch. H owever, Maplewood has
ind icated that this developer is very slow an~ it may be a while before
the ditch is bui1t.
Page -20-
