MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />May 13, 1987 <br />Mr. Cody admitted that 9t was true that the Mary Flouse had not expressed <br />their feelings about the rinks in ~he past. Cody also informed the Council <br />that Mary Nouse had a summer cottage on their property that they had to <br />tear down due to vandalism from the hockey rinks. <br />~oth Fahey and Forsberg commented that the City could not be expected to <br />know that there was a prob7em, if they were never informed of one. <br />Mr. Parks reported that he has met with Mr. Cody on the situation and that <br />Jim Morelan has requested that he have the opportunity to meet with Mr. <br />Coc~y or Mary Nouse to come to a solution on the prob1em. Mr. More7an <br />has not had the opportunity to do this as yet. <br />Mr. Morelan stated that he would have th9s meeting within the next coup7e <br />of days. <br />The Attorney suggested that it would be possible to have Mary House <br />added to the City's insurance policy to cover both defense costs anci <br />any liability for Mary House until the City can work out a solution to <br />the problem. <br />Mr. Forsberg introduced the ~o1lowing reso7ution and moved its adoption; <br />RESOLUTSO~! II1-5-215 - INSTRUCTING TFIF CITY CLERK TO <br />ADD THE MFlRYHOUSE TO TFIE CITY'S INSURANCE POLICY <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Mrs. Na.rdini. <br />I{yes (5) Forsberg, Nardini, Fahey, Flanson, Scalze. <br />Nayes (0). <br />Resolution declared adopted. <br />This resolution appears in Resolution Book ~~. 7, Page 143, <br />Parl< Mr. Carley submitted to the Council revised estimates for the improvement <br />Street of Park Street. Carley pointed out th~t some peop7e along Park Street <br />Improvement presently have sewer or water, and everyone will 6e assessed according <br />to what improvements they have, <br />Mr. Car7ey reported that Park Street wi11 be a 9~ton road. The property <br />on the west side of the street is commercial anci woulci require the 9-ton <br />capacity. Also the commercial pro~erty wi11 be assessed at a higher <br />rate than the residential. <br />Mr. Car1ey reported tha't if Park Street went through with a cul-de-sac <br />the assessments woulcf be approximate7y $83.00 per front foot fior resident9al <br />properties and $103.00 per front foot for commercia1 properties. If <br />Park Street were improved from County Road C to Demont the assessments <br />would be $101 per fror~tfoot for residential properties and $126 per front <br />foot for commercial properties. <br />Properties would only be assessed for the improvements they do not present7y <br />have, but all ~roperties would be assessed for curb improvemerrt. <br />Mr. Fahey stated that the average assessment on a residential property <br />if Park Street went through to Demont and the property needed all improvements <br />would be approximately $7,600. <br />Page -5- <br />
