MTNUTES clty oi Litt1P Canada <br />City Council <br />June 10, 1981 <br />The City Flttorney informed the Council that the paperwork for this <br />request appears to be in order. <br />Mrs. Scalze introduced the fo1lowing resolution and moved its adoption: <br />RE50lUTI0N N0. 87-6-273 - CLQSING THE PUBLIC FIEARING <br />ON TNE FRFlTT LONE REQUEST FOR FlPPROVAL OF INDUSTRIAL <br />REVENUE BONDS IN THE AMOUNT OF $309,000 <br />'fhe foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Mr. Fahey. <br />Flyes (5) Scatze, Fahey, Hanson, Nardini, Forsberg. <br />Nayes (0). <br />Resolution declared adopted. <br />This resolution appears in Reso1ution Book No. 7, Page 202. <br />Mr. Fahey introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION NQ. 81-6-274 - RECITTNG A PROPOSAL FOR A <br />COM E~RCI~ F C~ILITIES DEVELOPMENT PROJFCT GIVING PRELTMINARY <br />APPROVAL TO THE PROJECT PURSUANT TO THE MINNESO7A MUNICIPFlL <br />IPlDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT ACT AUTHORIZI~IG THE SUBMISSION OF <br />FlN APPLICATION fOR APPROVAL OF SAIQ PRO~ECT TO THE COMMTSSIONER <br />OF SECURITTES OF THE S7ATF OF MINNESOTA AMD AUTHORI7ING TFIF <br />PREPARA7ION OF NECESS/~RY DOCUMENTS AND MATFRIALS IN CONNECTION <br />WITH SFlID PROJECT <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Mrs. Sca7ze. <br />Ayes (5) Fahey, Scalze, Nanson, Forsberg, Nardini. <br />Nayes (0). <br />Resotution declared adopted. <br />This resolution appears in Reso7ution Eook No. 7, Pages 203, 204, 205, and 206. <br />RFM Mr. Tom Miller, representing REM, Inc. appeared before the Counci1 <br />Zoning requesting approval of the rezoning of some R-1 and B-3 property <br />Proposal located abutting and east of Jackson Street, approximately 250 fee't <br />north of Little Canada Road to RB, Residential Business, REM, Inc, is <br />requesting the rezoning so that they can buiid a fiaci1ity for the mental1y <br />retarded on this property. <br />Mr. Miller informed the Council that the building would consist of 15,760 <br />square feet and there would be parking prov~ded for 20 vehic7es, The <br />exterior of the bui1ding wou1d consist of decorative block. Mr. Mi17er <br />also stated that the facility would provide a tax base for the City. <br />Mr. Mi11er informed the Council that REM, Inc, had a meeting with some <br />af the neighbors of the property to get their suggestions on the project, <br />and due to this meeting, REM will 6e moving the driveway access farther <br />south, <br />Councilman Forsberg informed Mr. Miller that the Council has received a <br />petition signed by 33 neighbors of the property stating that they are <br />against the rezoning of this property, <br />Page -2- <br />
