MINUTES
City Council
June 24, 1981
Insurance
Protection
For
Members
Of Fire
Department
Spooner
Park
Lease
Call For
Bids For
Park Street
Improvement
Mr. Dick Boss asked the Counci1 if the City provides any type of
insurance protection for members of the Fire Department.
Mayor Hanson suggested that the City Clerk contact Mr. MacNamara
to determine if the Public Officials Liab9lity Policy would cover
members of the Fire Department. If so, the City should get this in
writing.
Mr. Boss was concerned that the City and the fire Department may have
double coverages, and he woutd like to compare what coverages each has.
Mr. Fahey suggested that the City should not be covering a private
corporation. The Fire Department should provide its own liability
insurance, and make the cost a part of its budget.
Mr. Fahey stated that he has quickly reviewed the City's lease with the
School District for Spooner Park. In viewing the lease it appears that
the City is within its rights in the use of the park.
Fahey suggested that the Fltt~rney review the lease agreement and give
the Council his input on it.
Fahey also stated that he intends to write the members of the School
Board as a private citizen regarding the situation in Spooner Park.
The City Engineer recommended that the Council shou1d call for bids for
the improvement of Park Street. The bids could be opened on July
23, 1981.
Mr. Hanson introduced the fotlowing resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION N0. 81-6-318 - AUTHORIZING THE ADVERTISEMENT
FOR BTDS FOR PFlRK STREET IMPRQVEMENT AND DECLARING THAT
THOSE BIDS WILL 6E OPENED ON JULY 23, 1981
Maplewood
Sanitary
Sewer
Connection
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Mr. Fahey.
qyes (5) Hanson, Fahey, Forsberg, Scalze, Mardini.
Nayes (0).
Resolution declared adopted.
This resolution appears in Resolution Book No. 7, Page 237,
The City Engineer stated that there would be no problem w~th the lift
station on Carla Lane. However> he would like to tal<e a look at the
lift station on County Road B-2. The lift station has the capacity
to handle the additional homes, but the station is 14 years old and
is ready for an overhaul.
The City Engineer informed the Council that the C9ty of Maplewood
would like to hook up six houses to sanitary sewer on Keller Parkway
in the location where Palm Court is hooked into the City's sewer.
Page -16-
