MINUTES
City Council
June 24, 1981
The subject of the rats in the ditches surrounding the trailer park
was brought up. It was commented that the ditches need to be cleaned
up.
Mayor Hanson stated that the City will direct its Hea1th Inspector
to take a look at these ditches. It was also pointed out that these
are County ditches and the County is responsible for the maintenance
of these ditches.
Another resident expressed concern over the frequent lot rent increases.
Council informed the residents of the court that this is something over
which the City does not have control.
P9r. Fahey informed the au~ience that the City cannot order the owners
of the park to put an additional exit in unless there was a stipulation
in the original approval of the park that would require this. If there
was not, the City would have to condemn the property and put the
exit in, if the owners are not willing to do so.
A resident of the park asked if the City had an ordinance requiring
tie-downs in the parlc. Rep. Valento stated that such a bill was before
the House> but it was defeated.
Mr. Kennedy commented that bills on t~e-downs and storm shelters come up
every year and usually do not make it out of committee. Kennedy stated
that 90% of the trailer parks do not have storm shelters,
Mr. Forsberg stated that the condition of the soi1 in the trailer park
is such that tie-down would not do any good. ~-~-u-~~ue~ ~~~~w~~~ ~y:~~~~UL .
s
Fl resident of the park suggested that the City take a look at the fire
hydrants in the park and stated that some of them were below standard.
The City Fire Chief informed the residents that the water system in the
park is a private one over which the City has no control.
~
Mrs. Scalze suggested that the residents of the park do some lobbying
for!ilegistation requiring tie-downs and storm shelters in mobile home
parks.
Mrs. Nardini introduced the following resolution and moved its acloption:
RESOLUTION N0. 81-6-309 - ACCEPTING THE PE7ITIOM fROM
THE RESIDENTS OF THE NORTH STAR MOBILE HOME COURT
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Mr. Forsberg.
qyes (5) Nardini, Forsberg, Scalze, Nanson, Fahey.
Nayes (O).
Resolution declared adopted.
This resolution appears in Resolution Book No. 7, Page 230.
Mayor Nanson suggested that the City Clerk research a siren warning
system and get the Council information on this.
