MINUTES <br />City Council <br />October 14, 1981 <br />The Attorney suggested that the Council advertise the position. <br />Mrs. Nardini stated that the Council should retain Mr. Squires unti1 <br />a repla.cement can be found for him. <br />Mrs. Scalze introduced the fo1lowing resolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION N0. 81-10-608 - ADVERTISING THE POSITION OF <br />B ILDI-~ N~ INS'~EC1'OR ~OR-`FHE CITY OF LITTLE CANADA AND RETFlIMING <br />LARRY SQUIRES IN HIS EXISTING CONDITION UNTIL SUCEI TIME AS THE <br />CITY REPLACES MR. SQUIRES WITH SOMEONE EI_SE <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Mrs. Nardini. <br />Ayes (4) Scalze, Nardini, Hanson, Forsberg. <br />Nayes (0). <br />Resolution declared adopted. <br />Th9s resolution appears in Reso7ution Book No. 7, Pages 394 and 395. <br />Flllen 7he Planner presented to the Council the proposal for the development <br />Avenue of the Flllen Avenue area that was approved by the Planning Commission. <br />Proposal There were originally three different proposals that the Planner <br />~ Flynn submitted to the P7anning Commission. These were modified due to <br />Proposal the concern of the owner of the Germain property for not running the <br />street all the way through and the objections of the residents on <br />Payne Avenue for having Allen Street run all the way through. The <br />Planner provided for only a small section of Allen Avenue to run <br />through to Payne Avenue. <br />The Planner stated that he has en extensive report on the development <br />of this area that he will be submitting to the Co~incil. The P1anner <br />also suggested that the City consider acquiring park land under thet~oti~Pr <br />~ines for a neighborhood park. The Planner suggested that this <br />be referred to the Park Gommission for their recommendation. <br />P4rs. Scalze stated that the Park Commission wanted to obtain that land, <br />but the people did not want this. The Park Commission would nor~ like <br />to try to acquire the property on a block by block basis. Mrs. Scalze <br />asked for Council approval of this. <br />The P1anner stated that the peop1e objected to a trail on this property, <br />and he is suggesting a neighborhood park. The Planner also suggested <br />that the City should try to acquire an additional strip of land so that <br />a ball field could be made on this property. <br />The Planner commented that the only weakness in the p7an is the two long <br />streets with no cross-circulation. <br />Mayor Nanson stated that this is not uncommon. There is no cross-circulation <br />on Payne Flvenue and Edgerton <br />The Planner stated that the fact that it happened in the past should not <br />be an excuse for the future. <br />Messrs. Flynn, Sophie, and Peterson stated that they were in agreement <br />with the plan recommended by the Planning Commission. <br />Page -11- <br />
