MINUTES <br />City Council <br />November 25, 1981 <br />Mr. Nicl< Mr. Nick Kent introduced himself to the Council, Mr. Kent is applying <br />Kent for the vacancy on the Park Commission. <br />Liquor Mr. Hanson informed the Council that the letter from the Liquor <br />Commission Commission regarding the Peterson liquor license 9s for their information.. <br />Letter <br />DeRace The City Clerk reported that the business located in the DeBace building <br />Building on Country Drive has not taken out an auto repair license. The police <br />On Country have reported that there is an auto repair business going on there. <br />Drive <br />Mr. Fahey instructed the City Clerk to write a letter to this business <br />and inform them that a license is needed. <br />1982 Mr. Fahey suggested that something should be added to the Sheriff's <br />Sheriff's contract that in the event the City should have a money cutback from <br />Contract the State, the City coutd possibly reduce police services. <br />Mr. Forsberg stated that this should be one of the last areas the City <br />should cut back on. The Flttorney stated 9t would be proper to insert <br />an additional paragraph in the contract to cover the possi6ility of <br />City funds peing adversely effected for any reason and providing that <br />the contract could be renegotiated if that would happen. <br />Mr. Hanson introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESOCUTION N0: 81-11-672 - APPROVING THE 19II2 SHERIFF`S <br />CONTRACT CONTINGENT UPON THE FlDQITION OF AN ADDITIONFlL <br />PARAGRAPH AS REFERENCED BY THE CITY ATTORNEY <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Mr. Forsberg. <br />qyes (5) Elanson, Forsberg, Scalze, Nardini, Fahey. <br />Nayes (0). <br />Resolution declared adopted. <br />This resolution appears in Resolution Book No. 7, Page 437. <br />Mrs. Scalze informed the Council that she talked with Mendota Heights, <br />which is approximately the same size as Little Canada, and they have <br />their own police department at a cost of approx9mately $200,000 per year. <br />They have nine people in this department, not all of which are polrce <br />officers. Sca1ze stated that she felt the City got better police <br />protection with the system we have now for about the same amount of <br />money. <br />6urglary Mr. Hanson informed the Council that he had Captain Spencer of the <br />Notice Sheriff's Department review the mailing he is proposing that is an <br />outline of a body and ~nforms the reader how to not~ce tdentifying <br />marks on a burglary suspect, The Sheriff's Department suggested that <br />their phone number be inserted at the top of this notice. <br />Page -18- <br />
