Mr. Forsberg introduced the foLLowing resolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION N0. 82-5-299 - TABLING ACTION ON <br />THE A& W SIGN LOCATION ANU THE A& W ROAD <br />AGREEMENT <br />The foregoing resoLution was duly seconded by Mr. Hanson. <br />Ayes (5) Forsberg, Hanson, Nardini, Scalze, Fahey. <br />Nayes (0). <br />Resolution declared adopted. <br />This resolution appears in Resolution book No. 8, Page 251. <br />Karate The Planner informed the Council that there is a request to operate a <br />School karate school out of the Old Little Canada Chopper. Building. The City's <br />ordinance does not specifically list karate schools as permitted uses. <br />Agenda Flowever,in reviewing the ordinance commercial recreation is listed as <br />Item No. 16 permitCed use in a B-2 district and as this property is zoned B-3 <br />it would also be a permitted use in this area. <br />The Planner also stated that there was sti11 a question on the school <br />being able to meet parlcing requirements. However, a plan has been <br />developed where 16 parking spots couLd be obtained. The Planner <br />stated that 1.6 spots would be suffici.ent. <br />The Planner commented that this item was more for Council information. <br />And the Planner wanted to inf.orm the Council that a previous memo <br />he submitted to them on this subject was inaccurate. <br />The Planner stated that the BuiLding Inspector will also be checking <br />out the building. <br />Mr. Forsberg did not feel that 16 parking spaces could be obtained <br />with the amount of area involved. <br />The Planner stated Chat before an occupancy permit is issued, the <br />16 parki.ng spaces wi11 be put in. <br />Mr.s. Nardini questioned the landscaping. The Planner stated that <br />the ordinance does not provide that grass must be the landscaping, <br />and commented that grass is not practical in al1 cases. <br />Mrs. Nardini aslced if the City were requiring rocks and shrubs. One <br />of the principals from the karate school stated that they did plan <br />to do some landscaping. <br />The Planner asked the Counci.l if Chey had any problems with the <br />ciassification of a karate school as commercial r.ecreation. Mr. P'ahey <br />commented that he had no problem with this. <br />Page -21- <br />
