MtNtrr~s <br />Ci.ty Counci.l <br />Nov. 15, 1982 <br />Sign Ntrs. Nardini stated that she felt the 20% increase was too much~ <br />Ordinance but she would consider an increase to 15%. N ardini reported that <br />Amendment Mr. Fahey will be late to the meeting, but he has indicated that <br />(Cont.) he would be in favor of an i.ncrease to 1.5%. I~le would also consider <br /> not usi.n~ Che pylons i.n the determination of signage. <br /> P9rs. Scalze stated that she wouLd be in favor of a variance for <br /> the Little Canada Ma11 as they have frontage on Vi.king Drive. <br /> Mrs. Scalze pointed out that the Market Place has approximatel.y <br /> 10% of the silouette for their si.gnage. <br />Scalze commented that she fe1C the increase to 15% was O.K., but <br />felt a variance for the Li.Ctle Canada Mall should be considered. <br />Scalae also stated that she did not fee.l it was fair that a corner <br />lor. would get more signage. <br />The Ylanner stated tk~at the frontage on Vi.ki.ng Drive could be <br />used for the Li.ttle Canada Ma11, but wiCh their plans for expansion <br />it wouLd be difficult to go baclc and have them remove si.gnage. <br />Mrs. Scalze stated that a pyLon could be removed. Scalze commented <br />that should additional. Uuilding be developed, the sip,nage would <br />have to be i.n line with the ordinance. <br />The Planner commented that he could not see how the CiCy would enforce <br />Chis. Mrs. Nardi.ni commented that the Ci.ty may be asking for problems, <br />Mr. f~tanson stated that the concensus seems to p,o towards the increase <br />to 15%. t~lanson suggested that the Council do this and see what the <br />results are. <br />Mrs. Nardini pointed out that the 10% fi.gure was on the books when <br />Vilcin~; Partnership came into the City. Narda.ni suggested that <br />rather than granting a variance, the Ci.T.y should go to the 15%. <br />Mrs. Nardini stated that she f.elt the frontage on Viking Drive should <br />be considered at the time Che project was expanded. <br />Mr. I3rody commented that should the bui.l.ding be expanded, there would <br />pr.obably not be thaC much additi.onal si~na~e as ther.e would be a <br />l.arge increase in the number of tenents. <br />Mrs. Scalze aslced how the silouette coould be deter.mi.ned accor.ding to <br />L-he frontage on Vi.lci.ng Drive. $calze also pointed out that Che City <br />has already approve<t a pylon for Viki.ng Drive. <br />Mr. FSrody commented that if the increase were made to 15%, he would <br />ask Chat the pylons not be included in the 15% fi~ure. <br />Mrs. Scalze stated that a pyLon is a si.gn and she did not feel the <br />City could do thi.s.
