MINUTES <br />City Counci.l <br />Nov. 15, 1982 <br />Vilcing The Planner suggested that if the Council is in agreement wi.th the <br />ParCnershi.p ordinance being amended it could give Vilcing I?artnership a vari.ance <br />Signs (Cont.) tmtil the ordinance :i.s publi.shed. <br />Mr. Pahey stated that he was not in favor of. a vari.ance beinfl gr.anted. <br />Mr. Brody stated that if the City passes the 15% silouette area <br />and allows Viking Partnership to use the back portion of the bui.lding in <br />determining the silouette area~ the Partnership could live with the <br />'0% figure at this time. Mr. firody poi.nted out thaC the 20% £igure <br />would be the largest that Vi.king Partnership would have needed. <br />Mr. Fahey stated thaC the Council should adopt the ordinance and a11ow <br />Viking Partnership to go up to the 15% f.igure. Pahey felt it was just <br />U technically Chat the ordinance must be published before i.t is in <br />effect. <br />Mrs. Scale introduced the f.ollowing resolution and moved its adopti.on: <br />RiiSOLUTION N0. 82-11-SII6 - 1)ECLAPING THA'P <br />VIKING PARTNERSHIP B~ ALLOWED TO USE IN THE <br />DET1iRMINING PROCGSS OT 1'1IEIR PERC]iNTAGE OP <br />SILOUETTE AREA POR SIGNAGE, THE BACK PORTION <br />OP THE VIKING PARTNERSFIIP PROPERTY PRONTING <br />ON VIKING DRIVE AND FURTHI:R DECLARING THAT AT THE <br />TIME OF PUTURE EXPANSION OP 'PflE LITTLIi CANADA <br />MALL TH~ TOTAL SIGNAGE FOR TEIE BUILDING WOULD <br />IIAVE TO CONTORM TO Tl-IE CITY'S ORDINANC~ <br />The foregoi.ng resolution coas duly seconded by Mrs. Nardini. <br />Ayes (4) Scalze, Nardini, IIanson, I'ahey. <br />Nayes (0). <br />ResoluCi.on declared adopted. <br />Thi.s resolution appears in ResoLution I3ook No. 8, Page 586. <br />Mr. Pahey asked if r.he City Attorney should draft the ordinance. <br />Mr. Hanson staCed that this wil.l come through as a proposal from <br />the City Planner. <br />Mr. Ilrody commented to [he Council that Uecause of the classificati.on <br />of Minnesota StreeC the Little Canada Mall is limited to 25 square feet <br />for. their pylon on this street. They are proposing a pylon of 120 <br />square feet. <br />Mr. Pahey pointed out thaC the publi.c hearin~ notice did not caver this. <br />Mrs. Scalze commented that Lhe Mall does not front on itice Street <br />and should not be considered as a Uusiness that does. <br />Mr. Brody pointe<( out that the P1a11 has a low elevation and cannot be <br />seen from north on Rice Street. <br />Page -6- <br />
