'Lhi.s ordinance incorporates <br />StaCe law. State law autltorizes the Ci.ty to permit bi.ngo by <br />ordinance. <br />The Attorney stated thaT. he recommended the adoption of an ordinance <br />si.mi.lar to F31ai.ne's. <br />Mr. Pahey commented that he was opposed to granting a bingo permit <br />f.or the 13ri.nicman IIa11. Fahey pointed out that thi.s concern was <br />expressed to Mr. Firinlcman when he appeared before T.he Council on <br />the ,ubject o[ the Hal1. <br />Pahey stated that he also thought Che City should seC a$25 fee for <br />a bingo permit. <br />Mr. 1'ahey suggested thaC the City ~~o~t. the State law by reference <br />and add the pr.ovision that issuance oE a bingo permit will be macte <br />to an organization where the principal place of. busi.ness or acti.v:iCy <br />dtirectly benefits the City. The organizati.on should also have to <br />worlc within the limiCS of the Ci.ty. <br />Mrs. Scalz.e stated that Che Council expressed i.ts concern about <br />bi.ngo at Chis location on June 9. Sca12e also stated that the <br />residents of. the area do not want another bi.n,n,o hall. <br />Mrs. Nardini poi.nted out thaC the Lyons Cl.ub may only be loolcing <br />f.or b:ingo a couple of times per year. <br />Mrs. Scalze r.epli.ed that the City could get several diff.erent <br />organizaCi.ons in this ha11 having bingo a couple times per month. <br />Mrs. Scalze poi.nted out that the State Law ~vould permit bi.ngo four <br />nights per weelc and she felt that was ridiculous. <br />Page -2- <br />
